The Serbs mine Tropoja
A minefield on the northern border. Yugoslav artillery has bombarded for two days in a row the border area between Albania and Montenegro. The homes of civilians in the villages on the border with Serbia, which belong to the Tropoja district, have been severely damaged. Some small streams, seriously threatened as a result of the Serbian army's shelling, have been blocked. 12 people have been injured, most of them near the border. The Serbs are carrying out acts of vandalism against the surroundings, destroying bridges and damaging telephone lines. The Albanian army is soon expected to respond with force in the Tropoja area.
FROM SUNDAY: 3 KILLED, 12 INJURED, RESIDENTS LIVE IN BUNKERS
The Serbs mine Tropoja
Hour by hour, aggression against Albania
A minefield on the northern border. Yugoslav artillery has bombarded for two days in a row the border area between Albania and Montenegro. The homes of civilians in the villages on the border with Serbia, which belong to the Tropoja district, have been severely damaged. Some small streams, seriously threatened as a result of the Serbian army's shelling, have been blocked. The toll of yesterday's Yugoslav bombing was three killed by a grenade; one of the victims was young, as well as 12 injured, most of them near the border. To these Serbian acts of vandalism are increasingly being added threats against the lives of Albanian civilians. As they withdrew yesterday afternoon from the border area, the Serbs also mined the road connecting the border villages, turning it into a permanent threat to the lives of the residents of these areas.
Alive? yesterday? after all the bombings? of the bombings, many? Albanian people have died? in border areas as well as 12 people, most of whom? have remained? of the KLA? have? have exposed? among them? has passed? Serbian vandalism.
